Minister of Higher Education welcomes his Lebanese counterpart to discuss aspects of cooperation between the two countries

Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research welcomed Prof. Abbas Al-Halabi, Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education and the accompanying delegation, to discuss aspects of cooperation between Egypt and Lebanon in the fields of higher education and scientific research, in the presence of Prof. Ashraf Al-Azzazi, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, and Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Advisor to the Deputy Minister for International Cooperation, at the Ministry's premises.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Ayman Ashour emphasized the depth of relations between Egypt and Lebanon, pointing out that Egypt pays special attention to Arab relations, and its keenness to maximize and multiply aspects of cooperation with Lebanon, establish close cooperation relations and provide full support to our Lebanese students studying in Egyptian universities in all disciplines.

The minister added that the scholarships offered to students to study in Egyptian universities aim to increase and support cultural, scientific and social exchange between the two sides, stressing the ministry's keenness to provide aspects of support to Lebanese students in Egyptian universities.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the experience of higher education and scientific research in Egypt, and the developments and successes witnessed in the current stage, both in the field of providing education through the establishment of many public and technological universities, stressing Egypt's interest in scientific research and linking it with industry to support the national economy.

Prof. Ashour pointed to the success of investment in the field of education in Egypt by strengthening the relationship between businessmen and investors and urging them to pay attention to scientific research, pointing to the importance of supporting international cooperation with universities abroad, which are now offering double certificates to qualify students for the labor market, noting the remarkable success and progress of Egyptian universities in the rankings. The Minister emphasized that there is a strategy aimed at improving higher education in Egypt at the academic and scientific levels locally, regionally and internationally.

The two sides discussed mechanisms for concluding a cooperation agreement in the field of higher education and scientific research between the governments of Egypt and Lebanon, as well as strengthening cooperation between the two countries with regard to grants offered annually to Lebanese students and the recognition of certificates awarded by both countries.

For his part, the Lebanese Minister of Higher Education thanked the Egyptian government for its continuous support to its brothers in Lebanon and its care for Lebanese students studying in Egypt, praising Egypt's success in organizing the Sixth Francophone Ministerial Conference, and looking forward to further cooperation between Egypt and Lebanon in the field of higher education and scientific research through conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the two countries.
