The Minister of Higher Education chairs the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Sports Federation for Universities

The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Sports Federation for Universities held a meeting, yesterday evening, Monday, chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Sobhi Hassanein, Vice President of the Federation, Dr. Arafa Salama, Secretary General of the Federation, and Ms. Ahmed El Sheikh, Treasurer of the Federation and Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education. The minister appreciated the efforts of the Egyptian Sports Federation of Universities in organizing the World Universities Squash Championship in cooperation with the International Sports Federation of Universities, which was held in Cairo during the period from 7-13 last November, expressing his happiness for winning the championship, and again congratulating the Egyptian players who won the championship, stressing that the distinguished organization of this The tournament reflects Egypt's ability to host world sporting events, in light of the unprecedented support of the political leadership.

Dr. Ayman Ashour stressed the importance of continuing to work on refining and developing the talents and skills of university youth in the sports, cultural and artistic fields. providing them with the necessary care; So that Egyptian universities remain a key supporter in showing the talents and skills of young people, and presenting champions who raise the name of Egypt high in various fields and local, regional, and international competitions.

The minister stressed the need to activate the national project to raise students' physical fitness and enhance their mental abilities, pointing to the need to identify the level of physical fitness among Egyptian university students, and raise the efficiency of their physical fitness, by measuring the level of physical fitness for each student at the university, and making an arithmetic average for each class. study, and the existence of a physical fitness map at the university level.

The council discussed the technical and administrative arrangements and procedures for a number of sporting events, including: the launch of the Football League for Egyptian universities and higher institutes for the current academic year, the University Youth Week to be held next year at Helwan University, and Egypt's hosting of the World Universities Handball Championship during 2024 in cooperation with the Arab Academy. Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

The Council approved the participation of the Egyptian universities national team in the Arab University Futsal Championship for Students (Zayed Second Championship), which will be held during the period from 23-31 December in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The council agreed to hold a sports tournament during the year 2023 at Helwan University in the following games: volleyball (male and female students), triple basketball (male and female students) and table tennis (male and female students).

In light of the implementation of the state's plan for digital transformation, as one of the main pillars for achieving Egypt's Vision 2030, the Council discussed the federation's plan for digital transformation by relying on modern tools of communication and information technology solutions and applications. To advance the status of the university sports system in Egypt, and in light of Egypt's hosting of international sporting events.

The council also discussed requests for a number of private and private universities to join the federation, to benefit from the sports activities that are organized at the level of Egyptian universities.
