Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Minister of Higher Education witnesses the signing of the first statement for Francophone scientific diplomacy with the participation of 32 ministers

Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, witnessed the signing of the first statement for Francophone scientific diplomacy; to enhance cooperation between countries and organize future relations between universities, in the presence of 32 ministers concerned with higher education and scientific research from member states of the Francophone University Agency, on the sidelines of the activities of the Sixth Francophone Ministerial Conference in Egypt, hosted by the Ministry and organized by the Francophone University Agency within the framework of the second edition of the International Week of Scientific Francophonie; held in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt, from 25 to 28 October.

Prof. Ayman Ashour stressed Egypt's constant keenness to cooperate with strategic international partners who play a prominent role in supporting and developing higher education in Egypt, including the Francophone University Agency, which is considered a major supporter of Egypt in the educational, research and cultural fields, pointing to the importance of signing a statement for Francophone scientific diplomacy to organize future relations between universities.

The closed ministerial conference witnessed the discussion of 27 ministers to ratify and sign the statement for Francophone scientific diplomacy, while 12 ministers who participated remotely in the session confirmed their ratification and signature of this statement, in addition to the signature of the World Organization of Francophonie and the Francophonie University Agency.

Prof. Salim Khalbous, Dean of the University Agency for Francophonie, explained that this statement aims to strengthen cooperation between politics and scientific research between different countries and continents, and to suggest to decision makers the idea of reliance on researchers.

Prof. Ashraf Al-Azzazi, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education, explained that the Francophone scientific diplomacy policy is to create a space for exchange, cooperation and solidarity around the scientific francophone, and this entails mobilizing all sciences and knowledge within the Francophone space, in order to support and develop education in all its stages from primary to higher education, through secondary education, and this scientific diplomacy is supportive of the global network of university graduates. It also works to solve the complex problems facing societies, develop the francophone space through science, technology and innovation, contribute to the development of nationalization and entrepreneurship among young people, and increase scientific cooperation among member states. Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education, explained that the Francophone scientific diplomacy will be pursued within the framework of values: (respect for diversity between cultures and languages, equal opportunities to ensure access to knowledge for all, active solidarity to achieve comprehensive development through knowledge, equality between women and men, and the promotion of ethical, humanitarian and scientific considerations, and progress through openness, tolerance, democracy and dialogue).

The spokesman added that this statement is scheduled to be presented during the Francophonie Summit in (Djerba - Tunisia) next month, as a reference document for the scientific Francophonie.

The ministers participating in the ministerial conference and representatives of the University Agency of Francophonie expressed their happiness for holding the conference's activities in Egypt, and for enhancing ways of fruitful cooperation with Egypt, by organizing more important activities and events, and forging partnerships with member states, and benefiting from the programs offered by the agency, in light of the distinguished relations between Egypt and the Agency.

The participating ministers also expressed their thanks to Egypt for hosting the activities of the conference, and to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, for his patronage of this conference.
